“With his signature warmth and wisdom, Danny Meyer reveals how to build cultures that bring out the best in people. His stories and lessons are as memorable as the flavors in his restaurants. I’ve been waiting two decades for this book, and it was worth it.”
Adam Grant Author of Hidden Potential, Think Again, and Vibe
“We all know Danny Meyer is the master of hospitality, but in this stunning book—part memoir, part manifesto—we learn how he became a great and humane leader as well. I am so inspired!”

What Could Possibly Go Right?
Essential lessons in leadership, culture and practical optimism
In What Could Possibly Go Right?, restaurateur, entrepreneur, and New York Times bestselling author Danny Meyer draws on more than four decades of entrepreneurship—sharing the successes, setbacks, failures, and reinventions that came with them. At its heart is a question that has shaped the second half of his career: How can growth strengthen your culture, rather than diminish it?
Through candid stories and hard-won lessons, Danny makes the case for practical optimism—not a belief that everything will go right, but an intentional mindset rooted in curiosity, resilience, and the conviction that setbacks can create possibilities you couldn’t have seen before.
Part memoir, part leadership playbook, What Could Possibly Go Right? translates those experiences into tools for building teams, navigating change, making difficult decisions, and creating cultures that evolve without losing what makes them special. A deeply human approach to growth and leadership, and an essential guide for founders, leaders, and creators across any industry.
